The following spring Blizzard releaseed "Burning Crusades" -their first major expanson. New level-cap (60), new area (Outland), additional story-line and the introduction of two new races (Blood Elves and Draeni) -with their own areas and story-line. All and all it was a major undertaking with all the other changes they also made.
My old friends at work -who still played, thought it would be cool to switch sides (Alliance to Horde) and play Blood Elves. Blizzard was going to open several new realms to support the inflow of all the new players that they anticipated coming to play, and this is where my friends thought it would be a good idea to go. A fresh start, leaders of the pack if you will.
Still being realitively new to MMO's and the way things worked -I didn't know any better. The Auchion House for example was almost empty of items -and what was there was 1,000's of times more expensive then it should be. It would take many months to stabalize. Also I didn't understand the logistics of a PVP-realm verses a PVE realm -and it surely makes a difference.
I spent a long time on that realm and created numerous characters. Eventually I would create Zul'azz (a troll shaman) and everything would change for me play-wise.
