Wrath of the Liche King...
Blizzard's next major expansion WotLK exapnded the game again another 10 levels and introduced another new area (Northrend), with lots of new content and story-line, and other stuff. Overall I thought they did a tremendous job -although alot of ppl didn't like it.
It was very difficult in the beginning for sure -and one of the biggest turn-offs was all that gear you had spent so much time working for was pretty much worthless. You would kill a wolf and get a green that was almost x2 the stats of your tier-3 epic. And worst of all the look of the stuff was basicly barbaric. An axe would be a bent piece of wood with a stone tied to it with knarly rope, damn right ugly. But that was just the way it was. Higher up the tier-stuff looked good. But that was a long ways out.
This being the second time Blizzard had done the gear thing -BC did the same thing, I guess ppl started to feel like they didn't really want to throw away all that stuff to start over again -so game satisfaction started to drop off.
We were able to fly in Burning Crusade once you capped and dug up $5,000 gold (equals about $5M SWtor) and reached an honorary reputation level with a certain faction. But flying was, well the uber thing to do. Up in the sky away from most of the crap on the ground. Fly to the quest item drop down and grab it and fly away -fun stuff.
You were able to fly in WotLK after gaining 3 levels and visiting the Cold-Weather Flying trainer in Dalaran -which was a difficult task since Dalaran resided in one of the highest zones -so Mages who could teleport made a fortune.
All in all I think I liked WotLK the best of all the transitions that Blizzard did.
